Dr. Nimrod Goren is President and Founder of Mitvim – The Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies, Co-Founder of Diplomeds – The Council for Mediterranean Diplomacy, and Senior Fellow for Israeli Affairs at the Middle East Institute. Nimrod is also Co-Chair of a regional initiative at President Isaac Herzog’s Israeli Climate Forum. He holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He was a Teaching Fellow on Middle Eastern Studies at the Hebrew University, a visiting fellow at J Street  and has also worked at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace, the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies and the Nehemia Levtzion Center for Islamic Studies. Nimrod is a past recipient of the Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East and the Centennial Medal of the Institute of International Education, and was selected as a Vamik Volkan Scholar by the International Dialogue Initiative. He serves on the steering committees of the Geneva Initiative and the Turkish-Israeli Civil Society Forum, on the board of the Center for Enterprising Citizens, and is a member of the Global Diplomacy Lab. His areas of expertise include diplomacy, regional cooperation and peacemaking, with a focus on Israel’s foreign policy and regional relations, the Middle East peace process, and Turkey’s foreign policy.

Dr. Gil Murciano is the CEO of Mitvim. Gil served as an expert on Israeli foreign and security policy at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), a Berlin-based think-tank, which advises the German and European foreign policy community. In collaboration with local partners, he founded and developed the Techne Initiative, which aims to turn members of the Middle-Eastern diaspora in Europe into foreign policy advisers. Gil is a member of the adjunct Faculty of the Hertie School of Governance Berlin, where he serves as a lecturer on the International Politics of the Middle East. He holds a PhD in International Relations from Freie Universität Berlin and served as Fox Fellow at the MacMillan Center/Yale University. His dissertation focuses on the role of honor in peace negotiations in the Middle East. Gil has also served as a senior foreign policy analyst at the Tel Aviv-based Reut Institute for Strategic Thinking (currently known as the Reut Group). In addition, he is a member of the Israeli-Arab forum of the London-based Atkin Foundation.

Michael Harari, Ambassador (ret.), was born in Syria in 1959 and made Aliyah to Israel in 1966. He worked in Discount Bank for five years (1981-1986), and joined the Foreign Ministry in November 1986 as part of the cadet course. He served in a range of diplomatic roles in Israel and abroad, including (amongst others) in Cairo, London and Nicosia. His final position abroad was as Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus (2010-2015), whilst his domestic positions have included Head of the International Division in the Foreign Ministry’s Center for Political Research; Deputy Head of the Political Planning Division; and Director of the department responsible for the Center’s work on the Palestinian arena and Jordan.

Harari marked 30 years’ service in the Foreign Ministry in July 2017.

Today, he serves as a consultant in the fields of strategy, policy and energy, lectures in the Political Science Department at the Jezreel Valley College, and is a Policy Fellow at Mitvim.

Harari obtained his BA in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Tel Aviv, his MA in Political Science and Security Studies from the University of Haifa. He is a graduate of the National Security College, and is currently pursuing an MA in Law at the College of Management Academic Studies in Rishon Leziyon.  Harari is fluent in English and Arabic.

Dr. Maya Sion-Tzidkiyahu is the Director of the Israel – Europe Relations Program at Mitvim. Maya teaches about the European Union’s (EU) history, institutions, decision-making, policy fields (especially its foreign policy and differentiated integration), and about the EU’s relations with Israel at the European Forum at the Hebrew University and at the European Union Studies Program at Tel Aviv University. Maya also teaches at the School of Public Policy, the Hebrew University. She holds a Ph.D in European Studies and Political Science (Comparative Politics) from the Hebrew University and was a 2003 Institute for Human Science (IWM), Vienna, junior fellow researcher. She is the recipient of the Jean Monnet module competitive grant. Maya Sion-Tzidkiyahu is a member of the Israeli Association for the Study of European Integration (IASEI) Executive Committee since 2005, and was its Co-President between 2016-2021. Her areas of expertise include, among others, European Union and European integration, EU – Israel relations, the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and differentiated integration.

Eran Etzion served as Deputy Head of Israel’s National Security Council at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Head of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. He took part in peace negotiations with the Palestinians and Syria, and was a member of the select team that planned Israel’s disengagement
from Gaza.

Etzion was the professional point person for Israel’s strategic dialogue with the United States and led similar dialogues with many other countries. He
dealt with core national security issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, Syria, Lebanon, and more.

He was the first to design and implement a Strategic ‘Net Assessment’ process for the Foreign Ministry. After leaving public service, he served as CEO of the Forum for Strategic Dialogue, turning it into a key platform for direct, informal engagement between Israel, leading European countries, and NATO.

Etzion also led the annual strategic political-security simulation exercise at Israel’s National Defense College. He is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Middle
East Institute (MEI) in Washington, D.C.

He writes, lectures, and frequently appears in Israeli and international media on national security and foreign policy issues.

Ambassador Daniel Shek is a member of the Board of Directors of Mitvim. A veteran of the Israeli foreign service, he has held several positions, including Ambassador to France, Consul General in San Francisco, Director of European Affairs and Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry. Throughout his career his fields of expertise were Europe and public diplomacy. Since leaving public service, he is a private consultant, teaches at Tel Aviv University and serves as a regular commentator on I24News. Ambassador Shek serves on the boards of several non-profits, including the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, an organization devoted to environmental problem-solving based on regional cooperation.

Dr. Kibrik held a Neubauer Fellowship at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel-Aviv (2014-2015), was a Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Davis Institute for International Relations in Jerusalem (2011-2015), and an Israel Institute Research Fellow at King’s College London (2015-2016). Originally from Los Angeles, she earned her MA in Public Policy, Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Tel Aviv University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She earned her BA with departmental honors from UCLA, with majors in Human Biology and Society and Political Science and a minor in Labor and Workplace Studies. She is a three time elected statewide delegate to the California Democratic Party and a Board Member of Progressive Zionists of California. Her expertise lies in US foreign policy, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the US-Israel relationship, international negotiations and mediation, and public health diplomacy.

Ilai Saltzman is Associate Director of the Israel Institute for Academic Programs in Washington DC, USA. Former Israeli Ambassador to South Sudan and Israeli Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Koren holds a BA in History of the Middle East and Political Science (University of Haifa) and a Masters in Islamic History (Hebrew University). He is an academic lecturer, a teacher of Arabic and a guide in the Society for the Protection of Nature.

As part of his foreign service, he served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal, Consul in Alexandria (Egypt) and Deputy Consul General in Chicago. In addition, he established and managed the Department of Arabic Communications and managed the Research Department, engaging with Egypt, North Africa and Sudan, at the Center for Political Research.

Koren served as the first Israeli ambassador to South Sudan and established diplomatic relations between South Sudan and Israel. He then served as Israeli Ambassador to Egypt after the reign of Muhammad Morsi and during the presidency of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi; a defining period in Egyptian times, in the region and in Egyptian relations with Israel.

He has lectured at the Jezreel Valley College, the University of Haifa and the National Security College on subjects including Israeli foreign policy, the Middle East, Arab citizens of Israel, Arab media, radical Islam, Sufi Islam, Islamic tribes, Sudan, Egypt, the Nile Valley and the Horn of Africa. He currently serves as a lecturer at the IDC Herzliya Center on Diplomacy in the Middle East in the Era of Globalization.

Eviatar Manor  is a retired Israeli diplomat. He was the Israeli Ambassador to Sweden and the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations in Geneva from 2012 to 2016. Manor earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and International Relations (Hebrew University) and is a graduate of Advanced Studies at the College d’Europe in Bruges, Belgium, specializing in the European Common Market Economy.

In 1973 he joined the Foreign Ministry and worked in various positions at the headquarters and in representative offices. His positions included: Foreign Ministry spokesman and press department manager; Consul General in Philadelphia, USA; Acting Head of Middle East Division; Israeli Ambassador to Sweden; Vice President of International Organizations and UN Ambassador to Geneva (2012-2016).

Dr. Dahlia Scheindlin is a Policy Fellow at the Mitvim Institute and serves as a strategy consultant and public opinion expert for political and social campaigns in Israel and around the world.  She completed her PhD in political science at the University of Tel Aviv, where she researched ‘non-existent states’ – that is, entities that were created out of ethno-national conflicts and which declared independence unilaterally, but have not received official recognition by the international community.

She has previously worked as a public opinion and political campaign analyst for Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, one of the world’s preeminent leaders in the field. She was also Director of International Studies at the GCS Campaign Management Company and a researcher at the Israeli Democracy Institute.  As an independent consultant, she develops strategies rooted in public opinion research for social issues, including sector relations, democracy and the transition to democracy, political disputes and negotiations, and human rights both in Israel and other countries.

Dr. Scheindlin has advised five national election campaigns in Israel, in addition to political and societal projects in Austria, Italy, the US, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Serbia and Zanzibar, among others. Dr Scheindlin is an external lecturer at Tel Aviv University, and previously taught at the Jezreel Valley College and Ben Gurion University. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, and her Master’s degree from Harvard University. She writes a regular column for 972 Magazine, an independent website; contributes from time to time to other newspapers; and serves as an interpreter for the Israeli and international media.

Ksenia Svetlova was the Director of the Israel–Middle East Relations Program at Mitvim, an expert on Middle Eastern Studies and a former member of Knesset. She was born in Moscow, Russia, and made aliyah to Israel with her family in 1991. Former MK Svetlova holds a BA and MA in Journalism and Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is fluent in Arabic. She served for 14 years as a reporter and analyst on Arab Affairs on Channel 9, covering Gaza and the West Bank and reporting from Tahrir Square, Damascus, Beirut, Manama, and Tripoli. Her reports and op-eds have been published by the Washington Post, Jerusalem Post, BBC, Kommersant, Al-Monitor and other Israeli and international media. She served as a Member of Knesset in the 20th Knesset and was a member of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. She currently chairs the public council of the Israeli Society for International Development (SID) and is a research fellow at IDC Herzliya.

Arik Segal is an international mediator and educator who specializes in the application of technologies in innovative dialogue structures. He established and leads “Conntix” – a consultancy that aims to connect people through innovation and technology.

Born in Canada and raised in Israel, he holds an HBA in International Relations from the University of Toronto and an MA from Tel Aviv University in Diplomacy Studies, as well as a Mediator’s certificate from Gevim Group. Following a political position at the Embassy of Korea in Israel, he set up his own independent consulting firm which addresses complex communication challenges on virtual and physical spaces.

Arik works in cooperation with international organizations, governmental agencies and think tanks (such as: US Embassy in Israel, German political foundations, The Israeli Internet Union and others) in frameworks that impact decision makers and civil societies. Among his projects are a unique “backchannel” between Israel and Turkey and an online-offline dialogue project between hundreds of Israeli and Arab young leaders. He also leads several digital campaigns that fight against the spread online disinformation.

Arik is a lecturer at Reichman and Bar-Ilan Universities and teaches courses about innovative conflict resolution, and digital political campaigns. He delivers workshops and teaches about the challenges of online communication such as: “Fake News”, hate speech and online disputes in international programs such as the Rotary Peace Fellowship at Chulagonkorn University and as a guest lecturer at Harvard Kennedy School. Arik established the “Israeli IR Pros” group and regularly publishes op-eds in various local and international platforms. He is US State Dept. international exchange alumni and a graduate of the International academy for leadership in Gummersbach, Germany.

Gal has been involved, inter alia, in large economic research projects, strategic and business analyses in the Israeli–Palestinian and Israeli–Jordanian context, as well as the Arabian Gulf, Egypt, and the Middle East at large.

Gal’s numerous consulting works have covered many fields of business: agriculture and water, energy (oil and gas, renewable energy), banking and insurance, transportation and logistics, industry (chemicals, food, textile, etc.), ICT, and more.

Gal’s consultancy activity takes advantage of extensive network of contacts in the public and business sectors of key Arab countries, as well as cooperation with economists and other professionals is these countries.

Yitzhak Gal is a research fellow in the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies (Tel Aviv University) and Mitvim – The Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies. Gal has published tens of articles and academic research works, and has presented papers in conferences and workshops – on the Palestinian economy and Israeli – Palestinian economic relations; the Arabian Gulf economies and markets; the Egyptian and Jordanian economies, and more. Gal is also a frequent lecturer on Middle East economic and business issues to Israeli public and professional audiences.

Nadav Tamir is the Executive Director of JStreet Israel. He has dedicated his career to public service, joining the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1993 and serving in multiple roles, including Political Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC. In 2006, he was named Israeli Consul General to New England, a position he held until 2010. Upon returning to Israel, he joined the Policy Planning Unit of the Israeli Foreign Ministry where he served until accepting the position of senior adviser to President Shimon Peres. Nadav is an adviser for international affairs at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, and a member of the steering committee of the Geneva Initiative.

Nadav earned his MA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a Wexner fellow and his BA in philosophy and political science from the Hebrew University. He currently resides in Givatayim with his wife, Dr. Ronit Tamir, and three children.
