Dr. Gil Murciano is the CEO of Mitvim. Gil served as an expert on Israeli foreign and security policy at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), a Berlin-based think-tank, which advises the German and European foreign policy community. In collaboration with local partners, he founded and developed the Techne Initiative, which aims to turn members of the Middle-Eastern diaspora in Europe into foreign policy advisers. Gil is a member of the adjunct Faculty of the Hertie School of Governance Berlin, where he serves as a lecturer on the International Politics of the Middle East. He holds a PhD in International Relations from Freie Universität Berlin and served as Fox Fellow at the MacMillan Center/Yale University. His dissertation focuses on the role of honor in peace negotiations in the Middle East. Gil has also served as a senior foreign policy analyst at the Tel Aviv-based Reut Institute for Strategic Thinking (currently known as the Reut Group). In addition, he is a member of the Israeli-Arab forum of the London-based Atkin Foundation.

Dr. Maya Sion-Tzidkiyahu is the Director of the Israel – Europe Relations Program at Mitvim. Maya teaches about the European Union’s (EU) history, institutions, decision-making, policy fields (especially its foreign policy and differentiated integration), and about the EU’s relations with Israel at the European Forum at the Hebrew University and at the European Union Studies Program at Tel Aviv University. Maya also teaches at the School of Public Policy, the Hebrew University. She holds a Ph.D in European Studies and Political Science (Comparative Politics) from the Hebrew University and was a 2003 Institute for Human Science (IWM), Vienna, junior fellow researcher. She is the recipient of the Jean Monnet module competitive grant. Maya Sion-Tzidkiyahu is a member of the Israeli Association for the Study of European Integration (IASEI) Executive Committee since 2005, and was its Co-President between 2016-2021. Her areas of expertise include, among others, European Union and European integration, EU – Israel relations, the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and differentiated integration.

Dr. Orni Livny is the Chief Operating Officer of the Mitvim Institute. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Tel Aviv University. Her doctoral dissertation analyzes the positions of Social Democratic parties in Western Europe towards immigration. Orni was a visiting researcher at Sciences Po, Paris. Her research focuses on immigration and politics in Europe, and she is particularly interested in immigrants’ political behavior. Orni is a former senior news editor at Channel 12 News, Israel, and the former director of Lev Smadar cinema in Jerusalem. She lives in Sarigim, in the beautiful Ella Valley, and is active in several community projects for sustainability and the environment.

Dr. Roee Kibrik is the Director of Research of Mitvim. He holds the degrees of BA (Political Science and History) and MA (Political Theory) from the University of Haifa, and earned his PhD (International Relations, supervised by Prof. Piki Ish-Shalom) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr. Kibrik held a Neubauer Fellowship at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel-Aviv (2014-2015), was a Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Davis Institute for International Relations in Jerusalem (2011-2015), and an Israel Institute Research Fellow at King’s College London (2015-2016). His areas of expertise include the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and negotiations, International Relations Theory, Political Psychology, Political Thought and history of concepts. Roee is the proud partner of Lilach and father of Eyal, Alon and Yuval.

Eitan Ishai is the head of the Middle East and North Africa Program at Mitvim Institute. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In these days he is a PhD candidate at the Hebrew University. His fields of expertise include modern Lebanon, with an emphasis on questions of Statehood, Sovereignty, Hegemony, Memory and Forgetfulness, and internal social struggles. In his doctoral thesis, Eitan examines the relationship between Lebanese Presidency and Hezbollah, while trying to present a unique model of Hybrid Sovereignty, as well as a historical pattern that has been taking shape in the last two decades concerning the issue of president electing in Lebanon. Eitan previously served as the director of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Association of Israel (MEISAI), and took an active part in diverse academic activities in the fields of the Middle Eastern Studies, Islam and the Arabic language.

Bar Rapaport is the Project Manager for Climate Diplomacy at Mitvim. Bar graduated with her B.Sc in Environmental Science and Religious Studies and earned her MA in Policy and Environmental and Natural Resources Management from The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Her thesis dealt with the connection between energy and politics in East Jerusalem, and she has recently worked to promote sustainable development in urban planning and policy to mitigate climate change. Bar has worked for several Israeli-Palestinian organizations, promoting peace building processes, dialogue, advocacy and coexistence. Her areas of expertise include energy, climate action, urban planning and the circular economy. Bar is currently working to earn her PhD on regional cooperation in the midst of the climate crisis, with an emphasis on conflict and the Middle East, at the Hebrew University’s Harry S. Truman Research Institute.

Reef Itzhaki is the Director of Impact at Mitvim. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication from Tel Aviv University, and is an alumnus of the European Union studies program. Moreover, Reef holds a master’s degree in European Studies from Heinrich Heine University in Dusseldorf. As part of his thesis, Reef analyzed to what extent European students perceive the EU as a normative power vis-à-vis its neighboring countries. In parallel with his studies, Reef participated in various political activities: In the foreign relations sphere, Reef managed an advocacy project as part of the public diplomacy program of StandWithUs. In the social sphere, he promoted projects for the organization “121 – Engine for Social Change” to strengthen nutritional security in secondary schools, and to foster subsidization of professional training at the beginning of the Corona pandemic.
