all posts by Amb. (Ret.) Jeremy IssacharoffJeremy Issacharoff was previously Israel’s ambassador to Germany from 2017 to 2022 and the Vice Director-General and Head of the Multilateral Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
In the early nineties, Issacharoff served for the first time in the Washington embassy and was a member of the Israeli delegation to the bilateral peace talks with Lebanon and the Israeli delegation for the multilateral Working Group on arms control and regional security (ACRS) following the Madrid Conference.
In the early 2000’s, Issacharoff was appointed the MFA’s first Deputy Director General for Strategic Affairs at the MFA with overall responsibility for arms control, non-proliferation, counter-terrorism, defense exports and regional security and conducting numerous strategic dialogues with diplomatic counterparts in America and Europe. In 2003, the UN Secretary-General, invited Issacharoff to serve on the prestigious UN Advisory Board for Disarmament composed of international experts in the field of arms control from about 20 countries. In 2005 he served as the Chargé d’affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission in the Israeli Embassy in Washington and dealt extensively with the sensitive range of political, security and strategic elements critical to the special relationship with the US.
From 2010 he was the Deputy Head of the Division for Strategic Affairs, responsible for coordinating the diplomatic efforts regarding the Iranian threat in all its aspects, discussions with Arab countries on regional security and weapons of mass destruction and efforts to dismantle chemical weapons in Syria.
